Exploring Drawing

Catherine Erskine-Smith  had a great time at the recent Exploring Drawing week-end class with Nicole Sylvestre.  The participants made some fantastic drawings. Catherine commented about the week-end -  " ....  Your tutoring style gave us the safety to go beyond our personal fears and constraints and the results speak for themselves."

If you're interested Nicole has a class on Wednesday mornings in the Semester classes.   More info can be found here - Exploring Drawing

Here is a selection of the drawings done at the week-end workshop -

Flood Appeal Help Needed

Marcus Lavers is organizing  an art auction at the Bleeding Heart Gallery in the city on Feb 10th (paintings go in on Feb 7th) to raise funds for the Flood crisis. The event will be a ticketed evening with food and complimentary drink.
Marcus says " this will be great exposure for artists and great for artists to be able to help without having to hand over money!"   He is asking for artists who wish to donate paintings to be included in the event to be auctioned for the cause.  As he has a finite amount of spots and the show will be curated Marcus is asking if artists can email a photo of their chosen picture(s) with dimensions & their contact details.  If your work is chosen Marcus & his team  will contact you to arrange drop off of work  and to obtain a bio.

If you'd like to help please email Marcus - marcus@marcuslavers.com

Flood News

Updated Monday 17th January

We have been very lucky at the BIA with only a tiny amount of flooding in the shed and no water in the main building.

Some of the cancelled workshops are happening on 29/30 January - keep an eye on the website for these workshops with their new dates.

Access along Grafton Street  is now passable  and all workshops are happening.

We hope that the BIA community has all stayed dry and safe.  We would also like to thank those who offered help - your support & help has been very much appreciated.

Rain

It was a busy morning in the office today as we phoned and emailed people about changes to classes.  As many of you will know the BIA is in a low area not far from Breakfast Creek so we have cancelled most classes for tonight (Tuesday) and tomorrow (Wednesday).   To find out if the BIA will be open on Thursday keep an eye either here or on the homepage.
